We've made several visits to Yorktown beach in the time that we've been here on the Hampton Roads Peninsula. It's normally not too crowded, there are restaurants and plenty of places to walk near by, including a sushi restaurant and ice cream parlor.
There's a parking lot right across from the beach, also a parking garage near by as well. So far, we've never had a problem finding a place to park. Yorktown beach also hosts different activities from time to time as well. Be careful though, Yorktown beach is known for jellyfish! If you don't want to brave the water, playing in the sand on the beach is a fantastic alternative.
