Yorktown Beach

We've made several visits to Yorktown beach in the time that we've been here on the Hampton Roads Peninsula.  It's normally not too crowded, there are restaurants and plenty of places to walk near by, including a sushi restaurant and ice cream parlor.

There's a parking lot right across from the beach, also a parking garage near by as well.  So far, we've never had a problem finding a place to park.  Yorktown beach also hosts different activities from time to time as well.  This link https://www.visityorktown.org/150/Events is a great place to start your search for things to enjoy at Yorktown beach.

Be careful though, Yorktown beach is known for jellyfish! If you don't want to brave the water, playing in the sand on the beach is a fantastic alternative.

Check it out and see what you think!

E Delizioso!

Maurizio's

Maurizio's Italian restaurant is located in Williamsburg near Busche Gardens amusement park in a small shopping center.  Their menu features traditional Italian dishes including fresh pasta made daily in house.  They also serve complimentary garlic knots that is soft on the inside with a slightly crusty exterior, drizzled with a delicious garlic, butter sauce.  It is fantastic.

I had the pasta with shrimp and you are able to choose which pasta and which sauce you'd like to go with your meal.  I chose angel hair with Alfredo sauce and it was absolutely delicious.  Everything came out piping hot and the shrimp tasted like they were fresh from the ocean!

My husband had the chicken with tortellini.  It came with a creamy sauce including tomatoes and roasted red peppers.  Delicious!

If you're looking for delicious, fresh Italian food you must stop in and give Maurizio's a try.  They also feature imported Italian beverages and a full bar.  There is fantastic customer service and a reasonably priced children's menu.

Yorktown Pub

Yorktown Pub is located on Yorktown beach, the beach view from the restaurant is very pretty and serves as a nice back drop, especially if you're seating by a window.

The service is good.  Our waitress was polite and attentive.

I had the lobster roll, pictured below, with a side of cabbage.  The lobster roll was pretty good, I had never had one before, so I didn't have anything to compare it to.  But it was a decent sandwich.  My side of cabbage was not what I was expecting however.  It was tangy, sort of like a sauerkraut, which I normally like sauerkraut, but this "version" of it was not my favorite.

My husband had one of their cheeseburgers that he let me take a bite of it to sample, and I must say it was quite tasty and his side of french fries were great also.

Even though I wasn't exactly bowled over with the dish that I chose, I wouldn't mind going back to try another dish.  They have a clam chowder that looked delicious and a couple of salads were featured on their menu that looked promising as well.  So overall, I'd say it's worth checking out.

Brickhouse Tavern

Brickhouse Tavern is located at 755 Scotland St. in Williamsburg, Virginia.  They are known for their delicious, very well priced pizza.  One of their large pizza's can feed a family of six (two adults, four children) for about $20.  A pretty good deal these days.

Not only do they have good prices, but the service is friendly and accommodating as well.

Their menu also offers calzones, pasta entrees, soups and salads, sandwiches and appetizers that include onion rings, jalapeno poppers, cheese fries and the like.  Everything that we've had is very well done including their antipasto salad.

If you're in Williamsburg or near by, stop by and enjoy a delectable treat!

Dessert anyone? Yes, please!

We visited a little cupcakery in Williamsburg, Virginia called Smallcakes.  Smallcakes has been featured on Food Network and The View!  They feature a variety of delicious daily flavors as well as monthly special flavors like Tiramisu, German Chocolate and Carrot.  My family and I each enjoyed a different flavor on our visit.  I had the Carrot Cake, my kids and husband had Tiramisu, German Chocolate, Lemon Drop, Hot Fudge Sunday and Peanut Butter Cup.  The Tiramisu had a rich, coffee flavor in the center, the German Chocolate was wonderfully chocolate with homemade German Chocolate frosting that is to die for.  Every cupcake we had was absolutely delicious and we look forward to visiting again.

The cupcakes are 3.25 a piece or 19.00 for a half dozen and 36.00 a dozen and worth every penny. They also have a military discount.  Don't miss out on this Williamsburg gem! You'll experience friendly service, a colorful environment and tasty cupcakes!
